Job description

The Part-time Cost Accountant Contractor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records related to the manufacturing of OdonAssist by MNHI’s Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO), located in China. This position is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and controlling manufacturing costs, managing inventory valuation, and providing key financial insights to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence in a regulated environment. You will be working closely with our technical hub based in Singapore and our CFO based in the US (ET). This is a remote job based in the US, East or Central.

Cost Accounting & Analysis

  • Analyze and track all costs associated with the CMO's manufacturing processes monthly, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.

  • Perform detailed variance analysis, comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and investigate discrepancies to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain standard cost models and ensure their accuracy for all products manufactured by the CMO. Support internal transfer pricing analysis using standard cost models and actual cost results.

  • Conduct profitability analysis to determine effects on costs and provide insights for pricing strategies.

  • Prepare and analyze cost reports to assist in budgeting, financial planning, and management decision-making.

  • Support the Operations Team by analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine their financial impact.

Inventory and CMO Management

  • Oversee inventory accounting processes by consolidating inventory information gathered from Suppy Chain, Region Controllers and 3PL’s.  Manage valuation, tracking, and reporting of inventory metrics.

  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to ensure all CMO activity and inventory movement is accurately updated and tracked using the current process (manual) and within the ERP system, when implemented.

  • Manage the cycle count program and coordinate with Operations personnel (internal, CMO and 3PL) to ensure physical inventory accuracy and reliability.

  • Support the Supply Chain team in their excess and obsolescence (E&O) inventory reviews and prepare associated journal entries. Work with Operations and Supply Chain to implement processes to minimize the risk of E&O.

  • Maintain purchase price variance and other inventory-related accrual analyses.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to cost of sales, inventory, and manufacturing variances. Work directly with the external accounting support team to reconcile relevant accounts and prepare an analysis of budget-to-actual results.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for CMO inventory accounts.

  • Ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific regulations, including FDA requirements and internal controls.  Understanding of IFRS compliance is a plus.

  • Support internal and external audit requests by providing necessary analysis, schedules, and documentation.
